First generation iPhone

The first generation of iPhone was released on 29 June 2007. Before the release, it was introduced on 9 Jan 2007 in a keynote at the Macworld Conference and Expo.

During the keynote, Steve Jobs told the world that Apple is going to reinvent the phone with iPhone by combining iPod with touch controls, revolutionary phone and breakthrough Internet communicator.

The first generation iPhone runs on iPhone OS which is based on Mac OS X. At that time, iPhone is at least 5 years ahead of the competitors in terms of software operating system technology.

There are some drawbacks of the first generation iPhone such as lack of 3G network support and no third party app support.

Despite some of the flaws in the original iPhone, it was named as Invention of the Year by Time Magazine in 2007. And the phone manage to sold about 6.1 millions throughout the life span.
